Lakeside living with Port Union Village homes

May 2, 2015 by Johnder Perez

What if I told you that with Port Union Village homes…

  1. You could live by the lake…
  2. …near a GO station…
  3. …in a neighbourhood with top rated schools…
  4. …in a detached house…
  5. …for between $500,000 to $600,000…
  6. …in Toronto!

You probably wouldn’t believe me.  But if you’ve been living in the downtown core or central Toronto all of your life, you may not have heard of Port Union Village in the east end of Toronto (a.k.a. Scarborough).

Ask anyone who lives in Port Union and undoubtedly they will tell you they live in Port Union.  Not Scarborough.  Not “east” Toronto.  Port Union.

Port Union village homes… lakeside living… where is this?

This neighbourhood is recognized by its name.

Located practically near the Toronto/Pickering border, south of Kingston Road and alongside Port Union Road, Port Union Village is a pocket of newer homes built near Lake Ontario just walking distance from the Port Union GO station.

It’s a part of the Toronto Real Estate Board district known as “Centennial” Scarborough.

The most recent homebuilder in Port Union Village was Conservatory Group who built a selection of detached homes and freehold townhouses near the waterfront trail and parkland.  Although the homes themselves have mixed reviews, the location is pristine.  Take the GO to downtown in about 20 minutes travel time.  Walk, jog or run the waterfront trail with park views and even a beach nearby.

Port Union Village homes are located near several top ranked schools in Port Union such as Charlottetown Junior Public School and Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute.  You can also find French immersion programs in Port Union schools.

Why are the prices of Port Union Village homes lower than the rest of the city?

Although prices have been on the rise, Port Union isn’t as well known as some of the more popular neighbourhoods in Toronto.  This represents a great value for homebuyers who are willing to expand their horizons and look beyond the core areas of Toronto to find a suitable home to live in.

Homes in the east end of Toronto, namely in Scarborough, tend to offer more ‘bang’ for the buck.  This is a part of Toronto where you can still buy detached homes for well below the average price simply because home buyers haven’t opened up to living far away from central Toronto.

If you’re willing to travel a bit further east to this part of the city, you’ll be able to afford a home that will give you a lot of lifestyle amenities you just can’t find in Toronto’s ever increasing housing market.  Detached homes with single and double garages, extended driveways, walking distance to neighbourhood amenities and schools…

Port Union Village has a lot to offer.  If you want to add this to your shortlist of neighbourhoods to consider buying in, let me know and I’ll give you a tour of homes and show you what Port Union Village has to offer. Or see all Port Union homes for sale.
